Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley has been named in the FIFA 19 Ultimate Team team of the week, alongside the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Alexandre Lacazette.
This is turning out the be quite the season for Barkley. He may be locked in battle with Mateo Kovacic for the third midfield position, but even though he isn’t yet a guaranteed starter under Maurizio Sarri, he is reaping the rewards for the minutes on the pitch he has been given.
Last week it was announced that Barkley was named in the Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the first time since becoming a Chelsea player. He followed that up with a goal and an assist during our 3-0 victory over Southampton at the weekend.
Barkley’s good performance didn’t go unnoticed, with EA Sports handing him a well-deserved team of the week card. Chelsea later posted a photo on Twitter of the 24-year-old posing with the card.
That goal and assist means @RBarkley8 is a worthy inclusion in @EASPORTSFIFA‘s Team of the Week! ? #FIFA19 #TOTW pic.twitter.com/wDmAzsa0bh

This could prove to be a breakout season for Barkley. If he is able to hit the performance level he produced against Southampton on a regular basis, that starting role will become his own – and the sky’s the limit from there!
