Maurizio Sarri discusses Gary Cahill’s future amid exit talk

Is Gary Cahill on his way out of the club?

Maurizio Sarri has discussed Gary Cahill’s future at Chelsea today after he suggested that he wanted to leave the club in the January transfer window.

The Englishman has become somewhat of a bit-part player at Stamford Bridge recently.

That has lead to frustration at not playing and with Cahill at the age of 32, he needs to be playing regularly.

Speaking recently, he explained that he’s not very happy with the situation.

“I’m not a guy who is willing to accept not playing,” he explained.

“It’s all about playing. Your career’s short enough as it is.

“Sometimes you have to make tough decisions to keep your career going forward.”

“As it is now, I’m not really enjoying things. Having been a big part of things for seven years and played a huge part, not just a squad player, I’m definitely finding it difficult this year to deal with that situation.”

“January is far from now, so we will see.”

Now, manager Maurizio Sarri has responded to those quotes and suggestions Cahill wants to leave.

He explained that while he has spoken to the player, January is a while away and ‘Gary for me is very useful’.

“I have spoken with him but I think that there is October, November, December, so I think that he has to wait,” explained Sarri, as quoted by the Daily Mirror.

“And then we have to wait. I repeat, I was really very happy with the performance of Cahill (on Wednesday).

“And so now Gary for me is very useful. January is far from now, so we will see.”
