Ross Barkley praises Maurizio Sarri and claims he’s ready for England spot

Ross Barkley has praised Maurizio Sarri’s style of play at Chelsea and explained why he is ready for a spot in Gareth Southgate’s England team.

The former Everton man has enjoyed a good start to the season under the new Blues boss and finally pushing on with his career.

Barkley left his boyhood club in controversial circumstances and didn’t enjoy the best of starts to his Chelsea career.

Though, Sarri has transformed him.

‘That’s the way I like to play’

Now, he’s now praised his new boss and claimed that it is the manager’s style of football that has helped him kick on.

‘Sarri’s philosophy has helped me a lot,’ he explained in a press conference today.

‘His style really suits mine and I think as the season goes on I will show a lot more what I’m capable of and create chances.

‘Our players are high up the pitch, he likes to press and when we receive the ball we are closer to the goal to take shots and create chances. That’s the way I like to play.’ 

Does Barkley deserve an England spot?

Now, Barkley is targeting a spot in Gareth Southgate’s England side.

He certainly thinks he is capable of doing a job and clearly thinks he deserves a spot.

‘I think my performances show that I am capable of being in the England squad,‘ he continued.

‘I’ve played a lot of minutes. I had a strong pre-season as well and I’m feeling as fit as ever. So I feel with the amount of games I’ve played I’m ready to be called up.’
